Open Letter to the Newswomen of NewsBash 2018
His vision for starting GWS was to deliver investment strategies and wealth management services typically available at the highest levels of wealth. Today, clients benefit from these sophisticated financial services targeted to meet their unique needs.
Open letter to the Newswomen who Bashed Breast Cancer last night:
Bravo.
What an exceptional event last night! Thanks to you, a sell-out crowd witnessed an emotional and inspirational evening; all while changing the lives of women of the District. You were able to raise over $40,000 that will go directly to saving lives and giving hope.
This is the third year that I’ve had the opportunity to support the NewsBash and its associated worthwhile cause. Much has changed in your respective roles within your news organizations, but your collective and collaborative commitment to move the needle for local women gives all of us hope.
A special thank you to the incredible speakers we had last evening. We were fortunate to be joined by Dr. Jill Biden, who has long been a supporter of the NewBash and co-founded the Biden Cancer Initiative, working tirelessly to put an end to cancer. There was barely a dry eye in the house as Kristen Berset of WUSA9 shared the story of her battle, having faced and conquered breast cancer twice before the age of 36. Her remarkable strength, not even taking time off work during her first bout with cancer, was incredibly moving and left many in the audience speechless.
This year you found a gem of a cause. It seems obvious that all women should have access to screening and care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Yet when you look east of the Anacostia River, there is an inexcusable lack of choice, especially in the latest 3D imaging technology. Except for one.
That’s Breast Care for Washington.
For visual people, these are the sites of 3D imaging centers. You are literally saving lives in the areas most underserved.
When your voices come together for this cause each year, you amplify the message of urgency to find a cure and bring encouragement to those who are battling breast cancer. This is your superpower. Armed in pink and ready to do battle, you are a force to be reckoned with. As you return to your studios and schedules, my hope is that you remember the good that you did last evening.
Share this cause with friends, family, and anyone you feel might be inspired to join us in changing lives. Take the time to reflect on the impact you have had on the 400 plus attendees, a worthwhile organization, and thousands of women.
Caren and I were honored to be a part of this evening and consider ourselves fortunate to be honorary members of the NewsBash for Breast Cancer. We join your efforts to have an immediate and life-changing impact on breast cancer, and we wear our pink proudly!
Thank you all for making a difference,
Barry Glassman
